I have finished my Calendar 2016 entitled "DISCOVER ALBERTA". It is a mixture of landscapes, iconic places and the night skies of Alberta. The following picture is a overview of what you can expect in this calendar.

Bild

January depicts on of the ice caves in the Athabasca Glacier in Jasper Nationalpark, the picture is called "Fifty Shades of Blue". February takes you to Banff, this is Banff Avenue with the iconic Cascade Mountain in the background. In March 2015 Christine and I saw the aurora the first time and this is my first picture of this beautiful and breathtaking phenomenon. In April winter goes away even in Alberta and the picture shows this transition with half frozen waters at sunrise on the Vermillion Lakes in Banff. Moraine Lake is starring for the month of may and this is the view of the outflow, which is blocked by trees that have fallen from the cliffs of the ten peaks. June takes you on a drive under the aurora, this shot was taken on the onset of a great geomagnetic storm and this is what can happen any given night here in Alberta. Another golden sunrise at the Vermillion Lakes will accompany you in July and in August a picture of the Sunshine Meadows in my favorite Ski Resort Sunshine Village is  marking the transition to fall colors. The River Valley in Edmonton is our green oasis here and it turns into all different colors come September with downtown ever so close. In the beginning of October the seasons will begin to battle in the Rocky Mountains and this is Mt. Temple covered in fresh snow with the golden larches still proclaiming fall. The Athabasca Falls along the Icefields Parkway in Jasper Nationalpark are awe inspiring and usually quite impressive. But the colder temperatures make the water volume drop and it becomes more quiet here. Last but not least, another aurora display in the prairies were you can find abandoned but beautiful old barns everywhere, add a little aurora to that and you have a great winter night.
